Adding to the clan

So my sister and her husband finally let everyone know whether their bun in the oven is a boy or a girl.  Last night at church I was hanging out in the nursery with the little kids and their moms chit-chatting and mentioned that she would making this announcement today and that my sister-in-law Brynne is pregnant too. One of the moms laughed and asked me if I was ever going to have a kid on my own and did I mind this? ( She is my friend and she was joking, FYI). But I would like to make the record straight on this. I LOVE that my kids have cousins who are so close in age.

On my Dad’s side of the family I have three cousins who were all born in the same year as my Joshua, Jeremiah, and Doug (shout out to 1981!). I loved that I have these guys it is like a little exclusive club. Now we are all married and our spouses have joined our club even though a couple of them were born before the 80’s. Doug and I (we were born 8 days apart and married 8 weeks apart) even had kids within a year of each other. While the four of us did not really grow up together in close proximity we still have always had this close bond.

Genevieve and her cousin Marin are five weeks apart and when they get together they have a blast with each other. We love watching them play and get into trouble together. Marin will always have a special spot in my heart for helping Genevieve like bath time. The girls even took their first steps within a day of each other up in Maine this summer. I am looking forward to watching the two of them grow up together.

Now we know that our baby boy is going to have a baby boy cousin a few weeks younger than him and I couldn’t be more excited. While it does mean we are on our own in the clothing department I still couldn’t be more excited. Truthfully, I hoped Alicia’s baby would be a girl so we could move G’s clothes that are to small out and make room for her brother to have some clothes. Oh well, we will just have to wait until next summer to see if another boy or girl will be added to the cousin clan of 2009. Either way Brynne doesn’t have to worry about clothes for the kid because we will have plenty for her to borrow whether it is pink or blue.

So to answer the question do I mind, not at all. I really do love that my kids will get to have a similar experience in the cousin department.

  • I’m really glad to have another boy cousin for our boy to play with. It will make for some real fun!

  • and I’m hoping for a boy. uh oh, that might spell a gang right there!

  • And, in case news doesn’t travel fast- Your same year cousin on your mom’s side- Ana, is expecting her 3rd baby in June! She has two precious daughters and is hoping for a boy. I think its neat to see so may cousins expecting babies. (not for me- one’s enough! yipe!)
Anyway, Genevieve is getting to big and SO PRETTY.
Jaden loves to look at his cousins and hear the stories about them.

  • Wow congratulations to Ana!
